Changes in the Scout Troop

Date: 5th Oct 2016 Author: Scout Websites

Chris Evans (Scout Troop Leader) has announced that he intends to step down from his role at the end of the summer term 2017.

Chris took on the role as leader over 15 years ago when the then leaders had all left and the troop was going to close. He took on the challenge along with another parent neither had ever been involved with scouting before.
What a different situation we find today. A troop that is full, with a growing waiting list of young people wanting to experience scouting in Ottery.

Chris will remain within the scout group in a support capacity (as well as Quiz master for the annual event).

In addition to Chris stepping down, next summer we will also be saying goodbye to Tim Oakley who has been a section assistant for many years. Tim recently moved from Ottery and has decided it is time for him to bow out. He will be sorely missed in the kitchen on camps and international trips.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated leadership team in scouts however, in order for us to maintain the level of activity that we have enjoyed over the past 15 years we will need to identify additional volunteer adults.

We are looking for adult volunteers who have the following attributes:
Can work as part of a team
Enjoy working with young people
Prepared to have a go.

If you would like to know more about the role or discuss how you can help the scout troop please do not hesitate to contact me via email [email protected] or telephone 01404 812836/07748 924093.
