About us

The Scouts are the UK's largest mixed youth organisation

About Us

The Scout group is located in the historic East Devon town of Ottery St Mary.

The group has been an active community based group for over 100 years, open to all young people aged 6 – 18 years of age.

What Scouts do !

We aim to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Young people in the Scouts take part in an exciting programme of activities from kayaking to coding. They develop character skills like resilience, initiative and tenacity; employability skills such as leadership, teamwork and problem solving; and practical skills like cooking and first aid. And research proves it really works. Did you know that Scouts are 17% more likely to show leadership skills and work well in teams. They’re a third more likely to support their communities too.

About Us

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
